No Longer Available!

HOTEL ROOMS, FORESTS AND SUBMARINES CD (Limited Edition) :

The CD is a collection of compositions from 1993-2003, performed at his Edinburgh show in August 2003, which previewed some of the new tracks that are on the latest solo album 'Afterplanesman' album (released 1st May 2004).

Nick's 'Music from Hotel Rooms, Forests and Submarines' has been described as an otherworldly music-box of original acoustic delights, with assorted stringed-things, including wine glasses and playing cards.

Nick's show has been nominated for the fringe festivals 'Tap Water' award, which is the alternative to the 'Perrier' award. (See below for reviews of the show).

REVIEWS : MUSIC FROM HOTEL ROOMS, FORESTS AND SUBMARINES : The Edinburgh Show.

ST. MARK’S UNITARIAN CHURCH. 31st July - 22nd August 2003.

Nick Pynn’s music strikes at some of the oddest times, but composers never turn away away a good idea, and if a £40 phone bill sparks a tune in a Danish hotel’s car park, Pynn and, ultimately, his audience at this splendid afternoon recital are all the better for it.

Playing guitar, fiddle, dulcimer, mandocello, assorted bits of electronica, a pack of cards, and a set of tuned wine-glasses, Pynn occupies a musical landscape somewhere between Steve Reich’s minimalism and traditional jiggery-folkery, and his musical skill is perfectly complemented by a gift for anecdote. Warmly recommended.

Being on tour with B*witched and comedian Rich Hall amongst other experiences, has given Nick Pynn many opportunities to have inspiration for tunes in varied locations,– hence the title of this show. And he is not restricted to just one instrument. He plays fiddle, guitar, mandocello, dulcimer and uses sampling to great effect: he made a whole rhythm section out of a pack of cards. He writes great tunes and plays them very, very well. A real one man band, Nick is one of the most inventive musicians I have ever heard! Go and see him.
